Masyarakat Penanggulangan Bencana Indonesia (MPBI) in collaboration with the International Federation of the Red Cross and the Red Cresent Societies (IFRC) have held SPHERE 2011 – Training of Trainers on the 27th Nov – the 2nd Dec 2011 at the D’Agape Residence Gadog, Bogor.
The TOT was an international training event and was delivered in English, eventhough most of the participants were Indonesians. Some twenty two participants, eight female and fourteen male, participated from the IFRC, Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), Belgium Red Cross, Italian Red Cross, Australian Red Cross, Canadian Red Cross, Action Contre le Faim, Save the Children, the Johanniter International and World Vision International.
The TOT was facilitated by Vikrant Mahajan (Sphere India), H. Iskandar Leman (Focal Point Sphere Indonesia - MPBI) and Benny Usdianto.
Participants generally felt to have learned much of the Sphere handbook contents and the application of standards and indicators in the real world through listening to different experiences from the other participants, discussions and exercising facilitation in mini sessions.
The objectives of the training and the participants’ expectations were felt achieved. The participants, the facilitators and the organising committee were also satisfied with the whole process of the training.
Participants intended to learn further the training modules used and distributed to them, to inform their Supervisors regarding the TOT, to share the learnings to their own colleagues in internal trainings, and to apply the messages contained in the Sphere handbook at work and in daily activities.
